New team members and services will strengthen PSG’s expertise and capabilities to support clients with Government Programs

DALLAS – July 10, 2024 – Pharmaceutical Strategies Group (“PSG”), an EPIC company, optimizes its Government Pharmacy Program capabilities through the addition of new service offerings and two new team members. These enhanced offerings will allow PSG to provide end-to-end support for organizations navigating government pharmacy programs.

PSG has long been a trusted advisor to health plans, assisting them with the management of their government programs. To reinforce this commitment, it has expanded its strategic advisory services across the entire government program lifecycle, from strategy development to implementation. New offerings include enhanced vendor oversight, policy clarifications for Medicare, Medicaid, and Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) programs, staffing solutions, and crisis management. PSG’s customizable services aim to help healthcare organizations navigate complex government regulations, optimize operations, and plan for future success in an ever-evolving landscape.

Additionally, PSG can provide qualifying plans with a health equity specialist to annually conduct a health equity analysis of the plan’s prior authorization use and support public posting of this analysis to meet upcoming Medicare Advantage compliance requirements.

In addition to service expansions, Michelle Juhanson, as Director of Government Programs, and Dawn Shojai, as Senior Pharmacy Benefits Consultant, Health Plans, have joined PSG. The appointments will enhance PSG’s Government Program services and add expertise to address client needs in the health plan space.

Juhanson brings nearly two decades of experience in Medicare and Medicaid compliance and quality control, having held various positions in pharmacy and PBM settings. Prior to joining PSG, Michelle served as the Vice President, Chief of Staff II of Government Programs at MagellanRx and Prime Therapeutics, where she led and achieved perfect CMS Program Audit results, created and facilitated the CMS Program Audit Playbook and Boot Camp, and participated in the national policy and measurement development work groups (e.g., PCMA, AHIP, NAC, PQA) in areas of Part D, caregiving, and Health Equity Policy. She also worked as Director of Compliance and Quality for PerformRx, where she oversaw the NCQA and URAC accreditation process and served as the Compliance Officer for the organization. In her role as Director of Government Programs at PSG, she will serve as a strategic partner, guiding clients through strategy development, product development, effective vendor oversight strategies, corrective action plans, government policy clarifications, and staff modeling.

Shojai brings over 25 years of experience as an executive pharmacy leader within national and regional managed care organizations, most recently serving as the Director of Clinical Pharmacy at Centene. Previously, she served as Vice President of Pharmacy at Coventry and Senior Director of Pharmacy at Inland Empire Health Plan. As an experienced consultant, she provides performance optimization, operational turnaround, and operating model expertise to a variety of clients. She has broad experience in improving Star Ratings, and HEDIS measurements. Her strengths are creating effective programs to improve quality metrics and member outcomes, cost-effective formulary and utilization management strategies, and Medicare compliance. In her role as Senior Pharmacy Benefits Consultant, Health Plans, at PSG, she will leverage her expertise to drive the development and execution of innovative compliance and quality strategies, focusing on improving member outcomes and ensuring PSG clients achieve the highest standards in the industry.

“With the addition of Michelle and Dawn, PSG has expanded its bench of Government Program experts to meet the ever-changing needs of our clients,” said Beth Hebert-Silvia, Senior Vice President – Health Plans Practice Leader of PSG. “We are thrilled to expand our team to include two highly-regarded and recognized industry leaders. They both boast a history of driving results and change, two fundamental philosophies at PSG.”
