Living Our Values: PSG’s Commitment to Community Service

PSG’s Culture of Service Extends Beyond Its Clients

When an EF3 tornado tore through Celina, Texas, last May, impacting hundreds in the area, the collective PSG team didn’t hesitate to act. Within days, they had mobilized to collect $500 in donations, purchasing essential supplies for the devastated community. This rapid response wasn’t just about addressing immediate needs – it exemplified PSG’s deeply held belief that our values must extend beyond the workplace and into the communities we serve.

Making Values Tangible

In today’s corporate world, company values can often come across as abstract ideas listed on an organization’s website. The real challenge lies in transforming those concepts into tangible actions that resonate with hundreds or even thousands of employees and aligning everyone across the organization to embody these values in their work and life. At PSG, we face a similar challenge: demonstrating that our core values of integrity, shared success, innovation, excellence, and stewardship truly guide our actions. Addressing this challenge starts with our people. As PSG President Michael Lonergan notes, “Our people and our values are what stand out most about PSG.” The ongoing question posed to PSG employees is this: How do we bring our values to life in meaningful ways?

PSG Community Service in Action

Throughout 2024, PSG teams across the country answered this question through direct community engagement.

In Rhode Island, six team members sorted and packed 1,100 pounds of carrots at the RI Food Bank, creating 258 boxes of fresh produce for families in need.

A group of PSG team members in Dallas participated in the Ronald McDonald House “Meals that Heal” program, cooking lunch for children undergoing medical procedures and their families.

Team members volunteered with the Pittsburgh Bereavement Doulas to create meditation card packages, providing comfort to families experiencing loss.

The employer team packed “Happy Hope Bags” for hospitalized children in Dallas, filling them with activities and creative items to boost spirits during difficult times.

In Chicago, members of our Audit team came together to provide a donation to a local food bank.

During our Industry Partner Summit, all PSG team members wrote heartfelt letters to military personnel, veterans, and first responders through Operation Gratitude.

In Nashville, our Data and Analytics Team assembled “Sweet Case” duffle bags through Foster Love for foster children, replacing the trash bags often used to transport their belongings with dignity-preserving alternatives containing blankets, hygiene kits, and teddy bears.

The Impact: Building Stronger Communities

The impact of these initiatives extends far beyond the immediate assistance provided. When our health plan team created gift baskets for the Princeton Medical Group Cancer Infusion Center, they didn’t just deliver physical items – they also delivered hope and comfort to patients during challenging treatments.

These service activities strengthen our internal community as well. In our increasingly virtual world, volunteer events allow team members to connect with colleagues they don’t often see in person and sometimes have never met face-to-face, building bonds that enhance our collaborative culture. As one team member reflected after the Ronald McDonald House event, “It was not only a very humbling experience but also an excellent way to bond with other members of the PSG team.”

A Call to Continued Service

Community service at PSG isn’t just about checking boxes or fulfilling corporate responsibilities – it’s about living our values in tangible ways that make a real difference. As we continue to grow and evolve as a company, our commitment to community service remains steadfast.

We invite our employees, partners, and industry colleagues to join us in this mission. Whether it’s participating in organized events, initiating new service projects, or finding unique ways to give back, every contribution matters. Because at PSG, we believe that true success isn’t just measured in business metrics – it’s measured in the positive impact we create in our communities.

As Michael Lonergan affirmed when reflecting on our 30th anniversary, “Our values don’t change. They are enduring.” Through community service, we don’t just talk about our values – we live them, one act of service at a time.
