As a pharmacist with over 15 years of experience, Rhea Lopez has helped many self-insured employers, health plans, hospital systems navigate the complex world of pharmacy benefits. Rhea has practiced pharmacy in many areas, including managed care, PBM, employer, and consulting, which help her better understand the market. Over the last 11 years, Rhea has held leadership and advisory roles including Chief Pharmacy Director for the UAW Retiree Medical Benefits Trust, Director/Senior Pharmacy Consultant at Willis Towers Watson, and Clinical Advisor at CVS Health.
Rhea earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan (she was a high school math teacher before becoming a pharmacist), and then earned her doctorate in pharmacy from Wayne State University College of Pharmacy. This combination of math/ analysis, education, and pharmacy has led Rhea into consulting where she enjoys partnering with her self-insured clients. She specializes in creating unique strategies to address the most difficult pharmacy challenges faced by self-insured plan sponsor including specialty drugs, medical drug management and formulary management. She loves challenging questions, and enjoys bringing new innovative solutions to her clients.
